Caribbean Creative Scriptwriting workshop - EAVE on demand in Guadeloupe

As part of the 3rd edition of the NOUVEAUX REGARDS FILM FESTIVAL in Guadeloupe, Cinémas d’Ici et d’Ailleurs in partnership with EAVE ON DEMAND is proposing a 4 days workshop on creative scriptwriting for Caribbean professionals.


This collaboration gives the Nouveaux Regards Film Festival the opportunity to continue to support Caribbean professionals in improving their skills and developing projects.


EAVE is Europe’s leading training, development and networking organization for producers. In addition to the flagship programme, the renowned EAVE Producers Workshop, they are involved in a variety of programmes in Europe, Asia, Latin America, Russia, Africa and the Middle East.

Founded in 1988, the objectives are to provide professional training opportunities and to bring producers from different regions of the world together with the aim of facilitating coproduction relationships. EAVE’s unique international network comprises over 2,400 producers and key decision makers (funders, sales agents, distributors, commissioning editors etc.).


To improve the participants’ skills in scriptwriting and storytelling for different platforms also taking in account the local current reality and providing them with the necessary tools for creative writing tools and techniques for traditional and web platforms.

This EAVE ON DEMAND workshop focuses on creative writing tools and techniques (logline, genre pitch, idea, character arc, story structure, breaking down the narrative into beats, turning points, etc).

By the end of the workshop, each participant should have a structured story in place, along with characters that are fitting the needs of the narrative but also resonate with the preselected genres, formats and audience types.

Participants will be provided with tools and references to comfort and benchmark their work at every stage of the way.

The working language will be English.



10 writer/directors with projects (synopsis stage, early development: fiction feature films, web series, traditional series, shorts).

10 writers and directors in the West Indies-Guyana region or, more broadly, the Caribbean countries can take part of the call for projects for applications for eave on demand workshop.

Countries admissible: Guadeloupe, Martinique, St Marteen, St Barts, French Guiana, Antigua and Barbuda, Anguilla, Aruba, Bahamas, Barbados, Cuba, Curaçao, Dominica, Grenada, Haïti, Jamaïca, Dominican Republic, St Kitts et Nevis, St-Lucia, St. Vincent and the Grenadines, Trinidad and Tobago, Porto-Rico.


• All projects must be submitted before january 30st 2019

• Winning projects will be announced on February 7th

• Coaching will take place during the Nouveaux Regards Film Festival in Guadeloupe, from March 13th to 16th 2019



Application forms must be submitted online before January 30th, 2019 midnight (Guadeloupe time)


Candidates should apply with:

 -A story summed up in 1 page

-A motivation letter in one page as well (what are they looking for? What is their ambition in practical terms)

-A biography/ filmography

File may include additional information (documentation such as outlines, graphics, script)

The Coach : Domenico La Porta


Editor of Cineuropa, the online media focusing on European audiovisual industry and available in 4 languages since 2002.

La Porta is experienced as a journalist, script doctor and a transmedia author/producer and has been involved in 40+ narrative projects for the last 15 years including academy awards nominees.

In 2014, he became the head of the Wallimage Creative fund in Belgium, investing 1M€ per year in digital creation and transmedia storytelling.

In 2016, he was appointed director of the R/O institute, a project based incubator for Narrative Intellectual Properties (NIP). The 8 months training programme is helping a new generation of storytellers to unfold their narratives across platforms (gaming, series, film, VR, comics...) while keeping their story world in check. Talents are also developing a tailored made business model that will position their NIP as a competitive ecosystem in the global market.

Aside from those complementary activities, Domenico frequently works as an international consultant in storytelling, audience mapping, creative funding and multistreams revenue models.

He gives lectures around the world and teaches transmedia related courses in a master programme.
